Careers and Universities Counsellor at Safa

Qualifications

Degree-level qualification in Counselling or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience as a Careers and Universities Counsellor.
Strong knowledge of university admission processes in the US, UK, Canada, Middle East, and internationally.
Extensive experience with UCAS and university entry requirements.

Job Purpose

Meet the requirements of Gatsby Benchmark 8 by providing one-to-one career guidance and advice to students from Years 7–13.
Conduct thorough individual career meetings to help students recognize their strengths and potential, empowering them to make informed decisions about their education and career choices.
Support the school careers programme by promoting the use of careers tools such as Unifrog through interactions with students.
Facilitate parent understanding of careers and education pathways by attending parent events.
Provide support and challenge for students in their interviews to enhance engagement with school life and support long-term education and career planning.

Requirements for the Successful Candidate

Hold relevant qualifications and QTS (BEd or Bachelor’s degree with PGCE / PGDE or equivalent).
Have experience teaching in British Curriculum schools.
Be enthusiastic about teaching and able to convey this to students.
Proven experience of teaching at the EYFS/Primary phase level.
Understand assessment and examination requirements.
Be an outstanding teacher capable of demonstrating excellent practice and student progress.
Work effectively as part of a team and share outstanding practices.
Keep up to date with developments in their age range.
Be willing to develop professionally through training within or outside the department.
Have excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and parents.

Professional Duties of a Teacher

Teach, including planning and preparing courses and lessons, setting and marking work, and assessing, recording, and reporting on student development, progress, and attainment in line with the school’s expectations and policy.
Use data to inform classroom teaching, monitor and track student progress, and implement timely interventions.
Communicate and consult with parents, including writing reports.
Attend Parents’ Evenings and Open Evenings.
Maintain good order and discipline among students.
Participate in team meetings and additional school events.
Work as a team member to shape departmental policy and practice, introduce curricular initiatives, and prepare and develop programmes of study and teaching/assessment methods.
Cooperate and participate in administrative and organisational tasks to ensure smooth team operation.

Language Teaching Assistant at Safa Community

General Professional Responsibilities

Support the delivery of engaging, play-based, and interactive German lessons under the guidance of the German teacher.
Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce language learning, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing in German.
Prepare classroom resources, visual aids, and cultural materials to make lessons exciting and accessible for Primary learners.
Encourage students to participate actively, use German in class, and develop their confidence through songs, games, and role-play.
Support the organisation of language and cultural events, such as World Languages Day or displays celebrating German-speaking countries.
Foster positive relationships with students and help build their independence, self-esteem, and enthusiasm for learning.
Provide administrative and clerical support to the German teacher and MFL department as needed.
