Job Purpose

Support the Infrastructure and Support Section in maintaining the integrity, security, efficiency and performance of Royal Jet’s IT infrastructure.

The specialist will attend to support calls and tickets, provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 user support and ensure that response and resolution service levels are achieved.

The role takes ownership of the IT Service Desk and ensures that support officers close tickets within agreed service-level requirements and follow the approved escalation process.

The specialist must maintain high customer-satisfaction standards and provide out-of-office coverage when required to support uninterrupted business operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the IT Service Desk.
  • Ensure that IT Support Officers close assigned tickets within agreed service-level requirements.
  • Ensure that incidents requiring escalation are escalated according to approved processes.
  • Provide onsite or remote Level 1 desktop support.
  • Provide Tier 1 and escalated Tier 2 user support.
  • Ensure that all users receive appropriate IT support in line with Royal Jet’s operational requirements.
  • Record all user requests, incidents and completed support tasks in the IT Service Desk system.
  • Ensure that other IT Support Officers also record their work in the Service Desk system.
  • Resolve personally assigned tickets within agreed response and resolution times.
  • Monitor Service Desk service-level agreements and key performance indicators.
  • Report Service Desk performance and support continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate 24-hour duty coverage with other members of the IT Support team.
  • Provide mobile and remote-access support outside normal office hours when scheduled.
  • Visit company sites or data centres outside normal hours, including weekends, when maintenance or troubleshooting is required.
  • Conduct offsite visits to install, monitor or troubleshoot IT components and services.
  • Attend offsite events and exhibitions to prepare technology setups and provide technical support.
  • Configure and deploy computers, laptops and mobile devices.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of deployed IT assets.
  • Perform technical evaluations before equipment replacement.
  • Standardize company assets according to approved model catalogues.
  • Maintain standard laptop-imaging configurations.
  • Monitor laptops, printers, scanners and software licences for inventory, compliance and policy enforcement.
  • Assist with the configuration, deployment, installation and maintenance of networks and servers.
  • Install and maintain desktops, laptops, printers and other IT peripherals.
  • Plan, configure and maintain structured cabling and active network components.
  • Upgrade, troubleshoot and repair company hardware and software.
  • Inspect server rooms and complete the required routine checklists.
  • Perform daily company-wide data backups according to Royal Jet policies and procedures.
  • Maintain logs for backups, offsite tape retention and related activities.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of user guides and IT procedures.
  • Resolve customer and user escalations professionally.
