- The Mubadala Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS), part of the Research Institute at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on simulations of ocean mesoscale plankton aimed at investigating resolution-dependent numerical biases.
- The successful applicant will be the main responsible for setting-up, running and analyzing the data of ocean simulations conducted using the croco ocean model, in an idealized open-ocean configuration. Simple NPZD and iron-limited plankton models will be run alongside the physical module. By running the same configuration at different resolutions biases in the simulated plankton growth rate, productivity and phenology will be investigated. The successful applicant will work in a highly multidisciplinary environment consisting of post-doctoral researchers, research scientists and NYU faculty, and will conduce work on NYUAD’s Jubail supercomputer on a regular basis. - The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on the development of smart optical sensors for environmental monitoring in the oil & gas industry. Our photonics research lab within the CSEM has set modern tools for the design, testing, and optimization of photonic circuits. It is open for collaboration with researchers with a background in basic research to investigate new optical circuits and materials with specific optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. The focus of this research project is related to advanced optoelectronics materials for sensing applications.
