We are seeking a Carbonate Sedimentologist to join the Sedimentology and Petrography Team of the Geological Solutions Division.
The Sedimentology and Petrography Team is responsible for providing responses to both short-term drilling operations and long-term projects that require high technical standards in sedimentology, stratigraphy, and diagenesis across the Exploration, Development, and Sustainability Areas of the company.
Key Responsibilities
-
Follow-up drilling operations that require any sedimentology, stratigraphy, and/or diagenesis support, guidance, and advice.

Carry out descriptions and sampling of cores, interpret and integrate results, and provide fast and accurate responses to drilling operations.

Prepare 2D and 3D sedimentological, stratigraphic, and diagenetic predictive models, to include presentations and reports, that are intended to de-risk projects in the Exploration, Development, and sustainability areas of the company.

Actively supervise younger professionals through drilling operations and projects as well as using formal training sessions in sedimentology and stratigraphy.

This role is essential to ensure the smooth operation of pipelines and flow assurance systems by analyzing and troubleshooting various pipeline operational problems, enhancing pipeline performance, and implementing flow assurance technologies.
Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support for pipeline operating departments, which includes troubleshooting major pipeline upsets and/or chronic operational problems and identifying improvement opportunities.

Develop plans and road maps for reviewing and incorporating new technologies including preliminary economics.

Conduct hydraulic simulation studies using hydraulic simulation software such as SPS, PIPESIM, and OLGA.

Assess hydrodynamic and hydraulic sealing capacity for varying lithologies and trap geometries.

Collaborate with basin modelers and provide vertical and lateral sealing capacity inputs for 3D basin modeling.

Assess and predict fault seals in carbonates and siliciclastic systems.

Report actionable play-level plans to management based on integrated results from other geoscience disciplines.
